LOS ANGELES — October 2026 — Acclaimed character actor Jayson Warner Smith is set for a trio of high-profile screen appearances spanning Netflix, Peacock and theatrical release, with new roles in the upcoming projects Heartland, The Good Daughter and The Rescue.
The projects continue an especially busy period for Smith, whose recent credits include Peacock’s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and Hulu’s Murdaugh: Death in the Family. His upcoming slate places him alongside an impressive ensemble of acclaimed film and television talent and further showcases his range across drama, thriller and contemporary Western storytelling.
First up is Netflix’s Heartland, a Nashville-set musical thriller from writer-director Shana Feste, starring Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain. The film arrives on Netflix November 13, 2026.
In Heartland, Smith portrays Owen, the manager of country music artist Winnie Jo Lean, played by Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Nettles. The film follows retired country music legend Misty Jones, portrayed by Chastain, as she returns to Nashville to investigate the disappearance of her niece and becomes drawn into the darker side of the music industry and her own past. The ensemble also includes Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch and John Hawkes.
Just one day earlier, Smith will appear in Peacock’s The Good Daughter, premiering November 12, 2026. Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel, the suspense thriller centers on sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn as a new act of violence in their hometown forces them to confront the traumatic events that fractured their family decades earlier. Peacock has announced the series as part of its fall 2026 original programming slate.
Smith portrays Sheriff Keith Coin in The Good Daughter, joining a cast led by Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy. The series explores the complicated intersection of family, violence, memory and justice as Charlotte, now a lawyer, becomes entangled in a case that brings long-buried secrets back to the surface.
Smith then heads to the big screen in Paramount’s The Rescue, an upcoming Western thriller directed by Potsy Ponciroli, the filmmaker behind Old Henry. The film stars Brandon Sklenar and features Josh Duhamel, Josh Lucas, Tim Blake Nelson, Nick Searcy and other notable cast members. The Rescue is currently scheduled for theatrical release January 29, 2027.
In The Rescue, Smith portrays Ed White, one of the henchmen working for Duhamel’s character. The film is described as a contemporary Western in which a rodeo cowboy is forced to put his skills to the test outside the arena.
The three projects represent distinctly different corners of Smith’s work as an actor—from the music-driven mystery of Heartland, to the psychological family thriller The Good Daughter, to the Western action of The Rescue.
“It’s an exciting time to have three very different projects reaching audiences in such a short span,” said Smith. “Each production gave me the opportunity to work with extraordinary filmmakers and actors, and each character presented something completely different. I’m looking forward to audiences seeing them.”
Smith has built a reputation for bringing authenticity and specificity to character-driven roles across film and television. His recent work includes appearances in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, Murdaugh: Death in the Family, and Song Sung Blue, while his filmography also includes appearances in the Sundance selections 99 Homes, Mississippi Grind, Christine and The Birth of a Nation.
With The Good Daughter and Heartland arriving on consecutive days in November, followed by The Rescue in theaters in January, Smith will have three major new projects reaching audiences across streaming and theatrical platforms within a matter of months.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. & ATLANTA – April 16, 2025 — Jayson Warner Smith (The Walking
Dead, Rectify, Outer Banks, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist) has been cast in recurring guest star
roles on three different projects. Tulsa King (Paramount+), Murdaugh Murders (Hulu) and The Good
Daughter (Peacock).
Murdaugh Murders – The as-yet untitled project is based on Maggie and Alex Murdaugh’s
stranger-than-fiction family drama, a riveting account drawing from countless hours of reporting by Mandy
Matney – journalist and creator of the popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast – as well as exclusive insider
knowledge from years spent following the case.
Jayson plays Bruce Dinwiddie representing the real-life banker and Alex Murdaugh’s best friend Richard
Lafitte. Jayson will recur in this pivotal role in the Murdaugh family drama.
He joins the previously announced cast: Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, Patricia Arquette as Maggie
Murdaugh, J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor, Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh, Brittany Snow as
Mandy Matney and Will Harrison as Buster Murdaugh.
The series hails from co-creator and showrunner Michael D. Fuller and co-creator Erin Lee Carr. Nick
Antosca and Alex Hedlund EP for Eat the Cat along with Mandy Matney. UCP, a division of Universal
Studio Group, is the studio.

The Good Daughter Jayson Warner Smith will recur as a guest star in the role of Pikeville Sheriff Keith
Coin in this suspenseful crime drama where sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn have spent the last
twenty-eight years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When
another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene.
Cast also includes regulars Rose Byrne, Meghan Fahy, Brendan Gleeson, Olivia Williams, Michael
Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall and Drew Cheek with Paula Malcomson and Jake McDorman, who also
recur.

Tulsa King (season 3) – Jayson Warner Smith joins the season 3 cast as Walden Eustice an Oklahoma City
liquor distributor who gets caught between Sylvester Stallone’s Manfredi and Robert Patrick’s Dunmire;
two men fighting over the same turf in the liquor distribution business.
Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series Tulsa King Season 3. Production is currently underway on the
Sylvester Stallone-led drama in Atlanta and Oklahoma.
Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone), just after he is
released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla.
Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from
a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that to him might as
well be another planet.
